Blog

Whether you just purchased a new hot tub or you are about to, you want to make sure that you are well aware of all of the ways in which you can properly care for it. This way, keeping it clean and maintained will be an easy enough task and you will find that the hot tub will provide you with many years of enjoyment.

Keep the Cover Cleaned

Over time, a hot tub cover that is not kept properly cleaned will end up smelling really bad and it will develop mildew. This could cause your hot tub to smell get a slimy feel to it. At least once a month, you will want to remove the cover and clean both sides with warm water that has a little bit of bleach mixed in to it.

Use Proper Chemicals When Cleaning the Hot Tub

You will need to make sure that you are completely draining the hot tub every few months so you can clean it. Just make sure that you are using chemicals that are specifically designed for the cleaning of a hot tub. This way, you will not have to worry about damaging the surface of the hot tub or causing damage to the filter if any of the chemical makes it way through it.

Keep Up With the Replacement of Your Filters

Do not make the mistake of only replacing your hot tub filters when they look dirty or slimy. Sure, you will want to immediately replace the filter should you notice that it is in poor condition.

However, if you have not replaced the filter within a month or so, you might want to go ahead and do it anyways, as this ensures that your hot tub will always have properly filtered water running through the jets. When the water continuously runs through poor quality filters, dirt and grime will continue to go through the jets, which can cause them to eventually malfunction. This is because the dirt and grime will collect on the jet parts and cause it to break own.

Caring for your hot tub is something that you can certainly do on your own. However, if you find that it is becoming a little more work than you can handle, you can hire a pool contractor like Ole's Pool & Spa to assist you with this. The sooner you take action and begin to develop good habits when it comes to caring for you hot tub, the longer you will be able to enjoy it.
